The Marshall County Special Olympics flag football team selected to represent the state as part of Team Kentucky at the 2022 Special Olympics USA Games in Orlando, Fla. will leave from Marshall County High School for Louisville on Friday, June 3rd at 11:30. The team will fly to Orlando from Louisville on June 4th.
Eight players and two coaches will make the trip to the Games. All will be competing in the USA Games for the first time and will be the first athletes and coaches from Marshall County ever to compete at the Games.
The Marshall County Exceptional Center is hosting a tailgate party sendoff for the team on Thursday June 2 at 11:00am.
The Opening Ceremonies will be on Sunday, June 5th at 9:00am Eastern Time on ESPN + or ESPN 2. The team will compete at ESPN’S Wide World of Sports on Field 18. Schedule subject to change.
The Marshall County team will compete in a division with teams from the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, Idaho, Florida, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Iowa, Texas and Illinois.
Schedule for the first three days of competition:
Monday, June 6 – 8:00am vs Maryland
Tuesday, June 7 – 8:00am vs District of Columbia
Wednesday, June 8 – 8:00am vs New Jersey
This schedule is for division purposes to matchup for Medal Play. Medal Play is Thursday and Friday with awards on Friday, June 10 at 3:00pm.
