
It was a successful “March Magic” for the Marshall County Special Olympics basketball teams who competed at the SOKY State Tournament and Skills Competition on Saturday at the Mid-America Sports Complex in Louisville.
Teams from across the state qualified through Regional Tournaments, one of those held at Marshall County High School on February 26. More than 400 athletes competed on Saturday, 34 teams in the tournament and eight teams in the Skills Competition.
It was the first official State Tournament held since 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Marshall 2 won the 1A Red division State Championship over the Hardin County Hot Rods. This was the fifth state title for the team. In the Skills Competition, Marshall 1 won Bronze and Marshall three a White Ribbon.
