Marshals go 1-2 in Ft. Walton Beach tournament

Quinn Smith, in the Marshals season-opener at Ballard Memorial, was selected to the All-Tournament Team in last week’s Northwest Florida Shootout in Ft. Walton Beach, Fla.

Last week, the Marshals spent a few days in Ft. Walton Beach, Fla. playing three games in the Northwest Florida Shootout, coming away with one win and two losses.

They opened with a 56-47 win on Tuesday over Choctawhatchee of Ft. Walton Beach, led by 21 points from Cole Mills. Mills was a perfect 4-for-4 in 3-point shots, went 3-for-3 at the free throw line and had seven rebounds. Kolby Schroader had 15 points and dropped in three 3-pointers. Quinn Smith had 12 points, was 4-for-4 at the line and pulled in seven rebounds.

In their second game of the Shootout on Wednesday, the Marshals fell 57-52 to Huntsville, Ala. Wade Moore led the scoring with 12 points and was perfect at the line hitting 4-of-4. Mills had 11 points and Smith finished with 10 points and eight rebounds.

In the third game on Thursday, the Marshals played Choctawhatchee for a second time and the game ended with the exact same score as the first but with a different outcome. Choctaw reversed the tables in their 56-47 win. Mills led with 16 points and Smith had 15. Smith had all of the Marshals points at the line hitting 5-of-6.

The Marshals (5-4) will play Tuesday in the Campbellsville High School Holiday Classic against Taylor County. Tip-off is at 5:30 (4:30 CST).
