Glenford Maurice DeJarnatt, age 94, of Cunningham, passed away on Sunday, February 7, 2021 at his home.
Glenford was born in Cunningham on August 15, 1926 to the late Earley and Iva Puckett DeJarnatt. He was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church of Cunningham. After high school, Glenford served honorably in the United States Army during World War II. Upon completing his service, he went on to work for the railroad. Glenford Later worked at the Deena Lamp factory in Arlington where he worked his way up to plant manager. Using his work knowledge from Deena, Glenford went on to found National Ceramics Inc. NCI quickly became the largest employer in Carlisle County. All the while, Glenford spent his extra time farming and raising cattle and horses. In his free time, Glenford loved to bird hunt and trail ride on horseback. He also enjoyed playing Rook and even played at the original “Rook House” in Cunningham in his younger years.
Glenford will be remembered as being the most loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to so many.
Glenford is survived by his wife of 26 years, Nancy Masters DeJarnatt of Cunningham; one daughter, Evalie DeJarnatt of Cunningham; two sons, Dana DeJarnatt and wife, Carole of Keystone Heights, Florida and Eric DeJarnatt and wife, Elaine of Cunningham; one step son, Joey Morgan of Cunningham; three sisters, Velma Arrington of Nashville, Tennessee, Maude Sims of Cunningham and Jo June Woodford of Blandville; 11 grandchildren, Jared (Brandi) DeJarnatt, Erica (Zachary) Tkach, Victoria DeJarnatt, Monte (Loretta) Barnhill, Brandie Jo Doke, Bryan (Addy) Lentz, Derek (Melissa) DeJarnatt, Rann (Bobbie) Tibbs, Chance (Becca) Tibbs, Case Morgan and Emmie Morgan; 15 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 34 years, Jo Wheeler DeJarnatt; one daughter, Dixie Tibbs; one sister, Dorothy Solomon; two brothers, Eugene DeJarnatt and Leon DeJarnatt; and his parents.
Funeral services for Glenford will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 12, 2021 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Bardwell with Rev. Dathan Guthrie officiating. Burial will follow at Bethlehem Cemetery in Cunningham.
Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, February 11, 2021 at the funeral home.
