Kentucky State Police Arrest Paducah Woman After Carlisle County Pursuit, Collision

Cunningham, KY. (January 4, 2021) – Troopers with Kentucky State Police, Post 1 arrested a Paducah woman Saturday night, January 2, 2021, after she fled from law enforcement and collided with a tree near the Cunningham community in Carlisle County. At approximately 8:30 p.m. Saturday night, a Trooper observed a 2002 Buick Regal fail to stop at the intersection of KY 121 and KY 307 in Carlisle County. As the Trooper attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the vehicle accelerated and fled from the Trooper. The vehicle continued to drive erratically on KY 307 before turning onto County Road 1057. The operator lost control of the vehicle and traveled off the right side of the roadway, striking a tree. The operator of the vehicle, identified as Carol D. Bennett, 49 of Paducah, Kentucky, was taken into custody without further incident. During a search of the vehicle, Troopers located suspected marijuana, methamphetamine, and cocaine, along with various items of drug paraphernalia.

After being treated by Carlisle County EMS, Bennett was lodged in the McCracken County Regional Jail. She is charged with Fleeing or Evading Police 1st Degree (Motor Vehicle), Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Controlled Substance 1st Degree, 1st Offense (Methamphetamine), Drug Paraphernalia – Buy/Possess, Possession of Controlled Substance 1st Degree, 1st Offense (Cocaine), Operating Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Substance 1st Offense, and several traffic offenses.
