The Marshall County Public Library’s youth services team has been hard at work in its effort to spread holiday cheer to families this year, even if programming looks a little different than usual.
While there will be no in-person programming during the month of December, the library will be holding programs such as online Christmas trivia, Facebook Christmas bingo, the Great Young Adult Christmas Checkout, and will be offering a limited number of family Christmas treat kits.
‘Twas the Night of Christmas Trivia
A Christmas-themed trivia game will be going up for families to play together on Saturday, December 12 at 6:30 p.m. on the library’s Facebook and YouTube pages. Since the trivia will be a pre-recorded game, families can play whenever they want and will have a ‘pause’ option.
The Great YA Christmas Checkout
Patrons of any age who check out young adult books chosen from a list compiled by the MCPL youth services team will have the opportunity to win a $25 gift card to Cafe Celebre. Each new young adult book a patron checks out from the list will earn them another entry into the gift card giveaway. The list of books can be found on the library’s social media, or by calling the library.
Facebook Christmas Bingo
From Monday, Dec. 7 through Christmas day, a Christmas Bingo game will be posted on the library’s Facebook page for patrons of all ages to play. Participants who get a bingo will be entered into a drawing to win a Christmas goody basket from the library.
A Special Family Christmas Treat Kit @ Benton
To go along with Christmas trivia on Dec. 12, the library will be giving away 70 family kits that include hot chocolate, popcorn, candy canes, trivia scorecards, and a Merry the Christmas Fairy book. The kits will be available for pickup on Dec. 12 from 10:30-12:30 and 1:30-2:30.
“We love Christmas at the library,” said Teen Services Librarian Ashley Hayden. “It’s our time to really shine. Every year we are all rushing to turn in our special ideas for programs and activities for our patrons. This year, more than ever, we wanna spread some holiday joy. COVID can’t stop our Christmas spirit!”
