Master Gardener Barbara Ray joined us recently on WCBL’s Coffee Call. She said this has been an unusual year for gardening with plenty of moisture and milder temperatures. Ray says now is a good time to feed your plants. There are three different ways you can do that, using granular fertilizer, the liquid type such as Miracle Gro and a timed-release fertilizer. Ray says she is a big fan of the liquid fertilizer. And Ray says because of the coronavirus, more and more people have been staying at home and enjoying both vegetable and flower gardens. And now is a good time for pruning, but Ray says to space out your pruning in order for your plant to produce flowers throughout the season rather than have flowers all at once.
