Lady Marshals face three strong teams in the Tampa Bay Christmas Invitational

The Lady Marshals and staff enjoying some beach time between games at the Tampa Bay Christmas Invitational.

The Lady Marshals headed south to play in the Tampa Bay Christmas Invitational at Seffner Christian Academy in Seffner, Fla. Playing in the St. Petersburg Beach Bracket, they played their first game on Dec. 27 against Florida Prep, one of the top programs in the state.

Florida Prep won 54-47 behind 17 points from Emma Risch. Cayson Conner led the Lady Marshals with 13 points and Jada Driver with 11. Florida Prep beat Saddle River, NJ 54-51 on Saturday to advance to Monday’s championship.

In their second game Saturday, the Lady Marshals lost 65-47 to Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate High School of Tampa. Another top program in the state that finished 4A state runner-up in 2016.  Langhi led the Lady Marshals with 19 points and BDCHS was led by Jaela Davis with 19 points.

Monday’s final game was played against Colegio Adianez, Puerto Rico. Colegio Adianez lost to Spruce Creek, Fla. 52-49 on Friday. Spruce Creek was the 2017-2018 Florida 9A state champions.

The Lady Marshals lost 55-45 to Colegio Adianez after leading at halftime 29-22 and by three at the end of the third quarter. Colegio Adianez out-scored the Lady Marshals 19-6 in the fourth quarter to win by 10 points.

Presley Jezik led with 13 points and the game wrapped up their games in the Tampa Bay Christmas Invitational against three highly talented teams. Up next for the Lady Marshals is a home game on Friday against Henderson County (5-4) at 6:30.
