The run ended on a basket by Stokes who drew the foul, dropping in the free throw for a 22-15 lead. Those three points from Stokes was the start of a 9-0 run for the Marshals that stretched their lead out to 13 points, going on to lead 32-20 at halftime on a final basket of the half by Zion Harmon.

Facing Ballard (8-1) in the final game of the Kentucky Lake Showcase, the Marshals battled a deep, talented Bruins team and after falling behind by as many as 21 points in the third quarter, they pulled to within 10 points in the fourth quarter with a few opportunities to cut the Ballard lead to single digits.
Seven of the Bruins first 10 points to start the game came from freshman Gabe Sisk to put Ballard up 10-6. Trailing 17-9, a three by Powell cut the lead down to five points, only to stretch back out to an 11-point lead for Ballard before a 3-pointer to end the quarter by Brady Miller cut it to eight at 23-15.
Six straight by Ballard to open the second quarter by Terrance McDaniels, Josh Minkins and technical free throws by Maker Bar gave the Bruins a 29-15 lead. Threes in the quarter by Stokes and Powell were not enough to keep up with four dropped in by Ballard, but the Marshals kept within reach with five of six from the line by Flatt and a reverse lay-up to end the quarter by Harmon to keep within 15 at halftime.
Ballard’s largest lead of the game came in the third quarter at 55-34 before a 6-0 run on a basket by Powell and two straight by Stokes cut it back to 15 points. They finished out the quarter with five straight points by Harmon on a nice assist from Stokes and 3-pointer to trail by 12.
Harmon started the fourth with a full court trip to score and cut the Ballard lead down to 10 points and following four points from the Bruins, Powell with a wide open lane kept the Marshals within 12. Trailing 68-57 with 1:50 remaining, the Marshals had fouls to give and with 1:06 to go, the Bruins made good use of their trips to the line hitting 8/8 to win by 15.
Powell had a great game for the Marshals, leading all scorers with 23 points, was 3/6 from 3-point range and a perfect 6/6 from the free throw line. Ballard was led by Sisk and McDaniels both with 16 points and Sisk had four of the Bruins 10 threes on his way to a Player of the Game selection.
