It is time once again for the Dickens Christmas Festival and Lighted Parade on Main Street in Benton! Tonight, Saturday December 14th, will the the Festivals 12th year here in Benton and it just keeps getting bigger every year! They have adding things like train rides and character meet and greets throughout the years, but this year they have added ice skating to the event! Everything is free, so come out and bring your family and have a fun evening in Benton! Couple of updates and things to know for Dickens!
Santa’s schedule has altered slightly. He will be at the Republican HQ building from 2PM to approximately 3:30. He will then move to Puckett’s from 4:00PM to 5:30PM before getting ready for the parade at 6:00PM.
It’s not to late to show up for the parade! Line-up is from 4:30 to 5:45 at the North end of town near the Mediacom office. It’s first come, first serve, no reservations required.
The parade route starts at 5th street, continuing up Main street, turning left at 13th, and another left back onto Poplar. The route officially ends after passing the MC Library on Poplar.
Ice-skating is on 11th Street. The number of skate rentals and sizes are limited, so be prepared to wait in a line! People will only be able to skate up to 30 minutes, depending on the size of the line. The Benton Patnership does reserve the right to adjust skate times in an effort to allow as many participants as possible to opportunity to skate.
Ice-skating will be from 2 to 6. Carriage rides will be from 2 to 5PM. The craft center at city hall will be from 2 to 4PM. The Powerwheels show in front of City Hall at start 4:30 and the Alley will open at 5PM!
Restrooms are located in the Main Street Center or the Port-A-Johns located beside city hall.
Traffic will begin re-routing at 2:00PM for the court square activities and 5:45PM for the parade.
