Mr. Bobby Gene Elkins, 87 of Benton, KY passed away on Monday, December 9, 2019, at Baptist Health in Paducah, KY. He was a Navy veteran and served in the Korean conflict. He was honorably discharged in 1953 as a Petty Officer Second Class. He worked at Penwalt in Calvert City, KY for 30 years from the time of his Navy discharge until retirement. For several years after retirement, he owned a hobby shop, All-Star Card Shop, where he sold and traded sports cards. He served as past President of the Paducah Kennel Club.Born Wednesday, November 23, 1932 in West Virginia, he was the son of the late Franklin Elkins and the late Fannie (Mathis) Jones.
Surviving are son, Steven Elkins, wife Kay of Kirksey and their two children, Melissa Elkins of Murray, KY and Adam Elkins of Kirksey, KY, daughters, Cindy Conger and her children, Ryan Harrison, wife Jenifer of Austin, TX, Trent Harrison, wife Jeni of Benton, KY and their children , Whitley, Tucker, and Lincoln of Benton, KY and Fara Kimberly Woodard and her children, Abby Erwin (deceased) and son, Braydon, Fara Kelly Foster, husband Joseph of Hopkinsville, KY and her children, Austin, Trey, Jordan, and Abigale, and Devin Woodard of Hendersonville, TN, and sisters, Joann Galloway of Calhoun, KY and Janice Darnall of Benton, KY.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Nancy (White) Elkinsbrothers, his brothers James Elkins and Billy Elkins, sister, Norma Jean Middleton, grandchild, Abby Erwin.
A Graveside funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, December 12, 2019 at Union Ridge Cemetery.
Interment will follow in Union Ridge Cemetery, Benton, KY.
No public visitation is scheduled.
