Friends of LBL Receive Conservation Award

Anita Spaulding, volunteer coordinator for the Friends of Land Between the Lakes, center, accepts the Ripple Effect Conservation Award on behalf of the Friends group from the Keep the Tennessee River Beautiful Inc., represented by Board President Kyle Howard, left, and Executive Director Kathleen Gibi.
The Friends of Land Between the Lakes received the 2019 Ripple Effect Award for Conservation in Kentucky from Keep the Tennessee River Beautiful, a Keep America Beautiful Affiliate on Saturday, October 19, 2019, at a ceremony at Kenlake State Resort Park. The award was in recognition for the many volunteer shoreline cleanup projects that the Friends of LBL hosts, as well as for the environmental education activities focusing on the Tennessee River ecosystem.
The Ripple Effect awards were sponsored by Yamaha Rightwaters and recognized individuals, groups, companies and organizations that work hard to improve and protect the Tennessee River and its tributaries.
Friends of Land Between the Lakes Executive Director Aviva Yasgur said “The Friends of LBL is honored to accept this award on behalf of our work to conserve the Tennessee River. As part of the Tennessee River system, Kentucky Lake is integral to Land Between the Lakes. People enjoy LBL in large part because of Kentucky Lake and the Tennessee River offering healthy ecosystems both for wildlife and people. Our volunteer projects and educational programs focus on this important message, and we are proud to be recognized for our work in this area.”
Upcoming volunteer shoreline cleanups will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2019, and Saturday, December 14, 2019 at 9 am. Please contact volunteer@friendsoflbl.org or 270.924.2007 for more information.
