Benton, Kentucky–Milner & Orr Funeral Home took ownership of the previous Filbeck-Cann Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 26, 2019.  Filbeck-Cann Funeral Home of Milner & Orr is open and available to serve families.

For 83 years this stately brick funeral home, Filbeck-Cann, has been a beacon of comfort and hope for generations of families in Marshall County.  Many remember having their grandparents and parents services in this historic building.  “We know traditions are very important to families,” states Randy Orr.  “Being able to keep this familiar landmark open is important to our family because we know it is important to families in Marshall County and the surrounding area.”

Milner & Orr Funeral Homes have been serving families in Western Kentucky for over 150 years.  Owners Randy and Andrea Milner Orr serve alongside their children, Brandon and Mary Beth Orr, Logan and Alison Orr and Marshall County native, and niece, Sasha Story.

We are excited to be serving Marshall County through Filbeck-Cann and be part of this remarkable community,” says Andrea Orr, owner of Milner & Orr Funeral Homes. “My father and grandfather were friends with many of the previous owners such as the Filbecks, Canns, Tolberts and Bennetts.  It is such an honor to be able to walk in the footsteps of such great role models.”

Filbeck-Cann will be providing meaningful and personal services with an emphasis on affordability.  “We know it’s what’s in a family’s heart that counts…not what’s in their wallet,” states Mary Beth Orr.  “We want every family to experience a beautiful and perfect memorial, regardless of their financial situation.”

Milner & Orr will also be offering their exclusive preneed assurance program, Sure Safe. This program is a safety net for all prearrangements made at any of their firms.  Sue Staples Langdon, of Benton, is a licensed Funeral Director and Preneed Specialist.  She will be available at Filbeck-Cann to assist in all prearranging, including transfers of plans back to the funeral home. Families with existing plans are asked to stop by Filbeck-Cann to learn more about this program and to update their records.

An update to the facility is planned over the coming months. The historical value of the building will be maintained while providing a light, comforting atmosphere for the families of Marshall County.  The funeral home will remain open during the remodel. “We believe folks will find the new soft look, added to the existing beauty of the building, to be a pleasant surprise when they enter the historic building in just a couple of short months,” says Brandon Orr. “We will be using local professionals and vendors to accomplish this.”

Milner & Orr Funeral Homes are always involved with the communities they serve. Most recently, Milner & Orr hosted the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall, The Wall That Heals, in October. The Wall escort motorcade came right through the heart of Marshall County.
