Wednesday at Marshall County High School, track and field athlete Emily Colley signed to continue her career and education at Midway College. Emily has been a five-year member of the Marshall County program, a five-year letter winner and integral part of the Lady Marshals success in both the discus and shot put.
Emily’s current personal best in the shot is 30’1″ and in the discus 95’10”, both marks she plans to exceed this upcoming season. She also excels in the classroom, carrying a 4.21 GPA which ranks her in the top 15 students in her class.
“Emily has been one of the best and most consistent throwers that we have had over the past four years and has exhibited an extraordinary work ethic in all aspects of being a student athlete”, Head Coach Cory Westerfield said. “Emily has a drive to succeed, but also a heart that looks to help others succeed as well. Emily is one of my go-to girls in helping to teach our other throwers.”
Emily plans to pursue a Psychology degree while at Midway College and is excited to be the first Marshall County student to attend Midway College as well as the first female track and field athlete that they have signed for the upcoming year.
“We congratulate Emily on her signing today and wish her the best of luck as she continues her career as a Midway College Eagle student-athlete next fall”, Westerfield said.
