Boil Water Order for Calvert City

The Calvert City Water System experienced a problem maintaining pressure in the distribution system this afternoon due to a system malfunction. As a precautionary measure, Calvert City is issuing a Boil Water Advisory for the following areas which may have experienced pressures below the minimum system pressure recommended by the Kentucky Dept. of Natural Resources:

Area 1 – All of the system West of KY 1523 (Industrial Parkway) and south of the P & L Railroad includes the Altona Area, Camelot Subdivision, Holly Hills Subdivision, Howards Grove, Horace Barnes, US 62 West to Possum Trot.

Area 2 – Camelot Subdivision, Howards Grove Road, Horace Barnes Road, Riley Circle , Colorado St., 10th Avenue West, 14th Street, 15th Street, Carolina Street,  South Main Street from 6th Avenue South to US 62, Kingswood Subdivision, Shadow Ridge Subdivision and Huntingdon Creek Subdivision and US 62 from Custom Automotive west to KY 1523.

Area 3 – Portion of Calvert Heights bounded by Chestnut St., 6th Avenue, Evergreen Street and 10th Avenue.  This area includes East 9th Street, 10th Ave. East, Apple St. and Walnut St.  Portion of Rolling Hills Area including Hickory north of Linden St and Linden St. from Hickory to 7th Avenue. Oak Park Blvd from 7th Ave. to Rosewood Ave.

Area 4 – Great Oaks Subdivision including Grant St., Grand Oaks Drive, Helton St., 18th Ave. and Lone Valley Road from Little Rock Lane to US 62.

During the duration of the Boil Water Advisory, all water used for drinking or food preparation should be brought to a rolling boil for three minutes. Customers should flush household pipes/faucets, home automatic ice makers, water fountains, etc.  Customers with infants, elderly or immune-compromised individuals should seek advice about drinking water from their health care providers.

Samples are being obtained from the system and test results should be obtained in 24 to 48 hours at which time the advisory will be lifted provided all tests are negative.
