A disabled truck Monday night reduced eastbound traffic on Interstate 24 to one lane at the 39 mile marker in Lyon County.
According to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, a semi struck a road hazard that ruptured both fuel tanks on the truck. The driver realized something was wrong and pulled to the shoulder, reducing the amount of fuel spilled along the driving lane.
All eastbound traffic was moved to the left-hand or passing lane at the site. A wrecker, the fire department, Lyon County sheriff’s deputies, Kentucky State Police, Kentucky Division of Environmental Protection and Kentucky Transportation Cabinet personnel assisted with the clean up, which was finished about 11:30 p.m.
