MCSO warns of “grandparents scam”

The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office has received complaints of a ” grandparents scam” in the area.

According to a release by the department, the caller identified themselves as the intended victim’s grandson, stating they needed money. The resident did not have a grandchild. The call may have  come from Cleveland, Ohio but scammers can make it look like they are calling from any number, including a local one.

The Sheriff’s Department encourages residents to be very aware giving out personal information and money.
