Speeding ticket nets traveler arrest on drug warrant

A California man is facing charges after Marshall County Sheriff’s deputies discovered drugs in his vehicle during a traffic stop and outstanding warrants.

According to Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, about 10:45 a.m. Friday, Jan. 5, deputies stopped a vehicle speeding down Interstate 24. During the stop deputies discovered the driver, Jeffrey Mahoney of Riverside, Calif., was allegedly wanted in Texas on felony drug charges. Additional investigation yielded marijuana and drug paraphernalia in Mahoney’s possession, police say.

Mahoney was charged with speeding 18 mph over the limit; possession of marijuana; and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arrested and taken to Marshall County Detention Center.
