Preschool, Early Head Start registration begins July 25

Marshall County Preschool Head Start and Early Head Start has upcoming registration for new applicants, no appointment is necessary.

Registration will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 25 and Aug. 1 at the Marshall County Preschool Office at 905 Joe Creason Drive in Benton.

To register for preschool, the child must be 3 or 4 as of Aug. 1 and a resident of Marshall County. Eligibility for enrollment is based upon federal income guidelines or developmental delay or disability, regardless of income.

Early Head Start welcomes new participants for the home-based program for expectant mothers and children under the age of three. Eligibility is based upon federal income guidelines. Early Head Start provides learning in the home with parent and child and social activities with other families.

At registration, the child’s parent or guardian must complete registration paperwork and bring the following documents:

Child’s certified birth certificate, proof of all household income for 2016 (2016 Tax Return, recent SSI/K-TAP/Social Security/SNAP benefit letters, proof of all child support received for all children in 2016, and grants/scholarships received in 2016), child’s social security card, child’s medical insurance card, and custody papers (if applicable).

Marshall County Preschool Screenings will be held on Aug. 17 at Benton First United Methodist Church. Developmental screenings are available to any child residing in Marshall County who is 3 or 4 by Aug. 1. Screenings are by appointment only. For children who have been accepted to Marshall County Preschool/Head Start Program for the 2017-18 school year and have not yet completed a developmental screening, we encourage parents/guardians to schedule a screening appointment.
