A Marion woman was killed Thursday morning in a crash with a semi on the Purchase Parkway.
According to Marshall County Sheriff’s Department statements and Kentucky Transportation Cabinet reports, deputies responded about 8 a.m. to an area near the 38-mile marker of the Purchase Parkway in Marshall County in reference to a collision involving a semi and a passenger car on the northbound lanes.
According to a MCSD press release, Ann G. Newcom, 52, of Marion traveling south on the Parkway when she hydroplaned and lost control of the vehicle. Her car crossed the median and struck a semi traveling north.
The Marshall County Coroner’s Office pronounced Newcom dead at the scene. The driver of the semi, Sean C. Mohs, 48, of Paducah, was not injured in the incident. The accident closed northbound lanes for about two hours, according to KYTC.
MCSD accident reconstructionists, West Marshall Fire Department, Marshall County EMS and the Marshall County Coroner’s Office assisted on scene.
The investigation remains ongoing.
