Dalton Lampley, the Calvert City resident who is accused of driving a WastePath sanitation truck in the wrong direction on I-24 and US 62 in McCracken and Marshall counties on March 17, was indicted on 11 charges by a Marshall County grand jury Tuesday, including wanton endangerment, aggravated DUI and fleeing police.
Three of the 11 charges are felonies, and all charges are listed below:
Fleeing/Evading Police
Reckless Driving
Resisting Arrest
Wanton Endangerment of a Police Officer
Wanton Endangerment (Four counts)
Possession of a Controlled Substance
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Alcohol/Drugs
The charges stem from an incident on March 17, when Lampley allegedly drove the wrong way on I-24, causing a number of wrecks, and then fled police. Law enforcement reportedly pursued Lampley through McCracken into Marshall County. Police were able to apprehend Lampley after deploying spike strips, which popped tires on the truck. He reportedly lost control of the vehicle and struck a guard rail.
Officers reported Lampley appeared under the influence at the time of his arrest; a subsequent search of the truck allegedly yielded a small bag of methamphetamine. Investigators said he later admitted to being high on the substance during the incident.
Lampley also faces assault charges in McCracken County related to the incident.
Lampley remains in Marshall County Detention Center on a $100,000 cash bond. He is scheduled to appear for review at 1:30 p.m. Aug. 8 in Marshall County Circuit Court.
