DRAFFENVILLE — Marshall County Sheriff’s Deputies are investigating a robbery that occurred in the parking lot of a local restaurant.

Officers responded about 11:20 p.m. Thursday to the Draffenville Dairy Queen, after a 911 call alleging a man in a black hooded sweatshirt, mask and sunglasses approached an employee leaving the restaurant after closing. Police say the suspect was armed with a pipe; he allegedly took an undisclosed amount of cash, as well as work and personal cellphones.

The alleged perpetrator fled the area on foot, according to police.

“It was a quick in and out type thing,” said Marshall County Sheriff Kevin Byars. “The person covered themselves enough that there wasn’t any kind of distinguishing characteristics.”
