Mr. Justin Cole Smith, age 20 of Benton, KY died on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 in Knoxville, TN. He was attending the University of Tennessee – Knoxville where he was a Nuclear Engineer Major and research assistant. He was a member of the 2016 Leadershape and was an Engineer Counselor for 9th and 10th grade students. He was a 2015 honor graduate of Marshall County High School. He was also a former musician at the KY Opry.
Surviving are his parents, Greg and Renita (Cole) Smith of Benton, KY, sister, Ashley Curtner of Benton, KY, grandmother, Nova Peck of Benton, KY, grandfather, Rodney Smith of Paducah, KY, uncles, Jeff Smith of Benton, KY, David Cole of Benton, KY, and aunts, Tammy Clark of Bowling Green, KY, Renia Rogers of Gilbertsville, KY, Regina Coley of Symsonia, KY.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Lucille Welborn and grandfather, Ray Cole.
A Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, March 5, 2017 at Collier Funeral Chapel located at 211 West 5th St. Benton, KY 42025 with Rev. Chris Young officiating.
Interment will follow in the Provine Cemetery, Benton, KY.
Visitation will be held between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Collier Funeral Home, Benton, KY.
