Marshall County 4-H has Sharp Shooters compete at statewide level

Eighteen Marshall County 4-H Sharp Shooter members competed in the 2016 State 4-H Shoot on Saturday, September 10th in Wilmore and Sunday, September 11th in Berea, KY.  They were joined by over 1,200 other 4-Hers from across Kentucky in this two-day shooting sports competition.

 

The 4-H Sharp Shooters brought home several awards including:

Teams:  9-11 Air Pistol team (Austin Price, Sarah Miller, Wade Driver, Zach Oden) placed 3rd
12-14 BB Rifle team (Caleb Miller, Case Thomason, Cullen Wilson, Tiffany Scicluna) placed 1st
12-14 .22 rifle team (Caleb Miller, Cameron Thomason, Case Thomason, Tiffany Scicluna) placed 2nd
9-11 Division 1 (25 Clays) (Gabe Driskill, Hunter O’Bryan, Carter Beliles, Zach Oden and Clay Cope) placed 1st

Several Sharp Shooter members placed in the Top 20 in their respective disciplines.

 

Marshall County 4-H Sharp Shooters – Kelsey Littrell, Tanner Puckett, Riley Smith, & Morgan Westerfield – also participated in events during the State 4-H Shoot.  The 4-Hers in Archery are coached by Chris Miller and Kevin Jackson.  Rifle Coach is Perry Joe Thomason.  Rifle parent/guardian helpers are Randy Irvan and Roger Oden.  Pistol Coach is Adam Driver. And the Shotgun (Trap) Coaches include Keith Smith and Lee Cope who are assisted by parent volunteer – Chad Driskill.  Other volunteers who contribute to the club’s success include Missy Miller (County Coordinator), and 4-Hers’ parents, grandparents, and other family members.

 

The Marshall County 4-H Sharp Shooters are winding down their year and will start again in January 2017.  The group practices at the Calvert City Gun Club.  The Sharp Shooters will send notices out to the schools and newspapers when they have their first meeting of the year.  Marshall County youth between the ages of 9-18 and their parents will be welcome to attend the club’s informational meeting to learn more.  This meeting is planned for mid to late January.
