A Kentucky State Trooper needed assistance Friday night for an unusual reason – his cruiser caught fire.
Trooper Michael Robichaud with KSP said his colleague was not injured in the incident. Robichaud said the trooper was driving down the road about 10 pm when he realized there was a fire.
He pulled over into Baits N More convenience store parking lot on Highway 68 near Belew’s Dairy Bar in Aurora, and was able to get some of his equipment and personal items from the car before it was engulfed in flames.
Robichaud said the man was not injured, but the vehicle was a total loss. The cruiser had 196,000 miles on it, and Robichaud said that is more than most of their fleet of vehicles.
