Benton man involved in two-vehicle wreck in Paducah

On Friday, 7/8/16, at approximately 11:10 P.M., the McCracken County Sheriff's
Department responded to a two vehicle injury collision near the 7.5 mile marker of
I-24 west bound.

The investigation showed that 46 year old Anthony Boyd of West Paducah, KY, was
operating a Gradall XL3100 wheeled excavator owned by the McCracken County Road
Department west bound on I-24 near the 7.5 mile marker. Ethan Clark, 21 years of
age from Benton, KY, was operating a 2008 Smart Car west bound on I-24 in the same
area. Clark failed to see the excavator traveling at a slower speed and struck the
excavator in the rear.

Clark was transported to Lourdes Hospital for treatment of non-incapacitating
injuries by Mercy Regional EMS. The Paducah Police Department, Paducah Fire
Department and Jason's towing assisted on scene. I-24 west bound was reduced to one
lane for approximately 30 minutes to facilitate the investigation and removal of the
involved vehicles.
