CADIZ, Ky. (March 11, 2025) – The Kentucky State Police (KSP) Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) has been requested by the Trigg County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) to investigate an officer-involved shooting that occurred on March 11, at approximately 11:50 a.m. CT. CIRT detectives arrived on the scene and began an investigation into the incident.
The preliminary investigation indicates KSP troopers attempted to conduct a traffic stop near the 42-mile marker of I-24 eastbound when the vehicle fled. The pursuit continued into Trigg County where TCSO deputies joined in. The suspect vehicle was involved in a single-vehicle collision near the 65-mile marker. The suspect exited his vehicle and fled from law enforcement on foot. During the foot pursuit, the suspect began shooting at law enforcement, striking one deputy. Three deputies with TCSO fired their agency-issued firearm, striking the individual. The suspect, identified as Jermaine Terrell Jackson Jr., 21 years old of Florissant, MO, was pronounced deceased at the scene. One deputy sustained injuries and was transported to a medical facility, where he is in stable condition. No other injuries were reported.
