Crews are patrolling and treating state highways as snow falls
PADUCAH, Ky. (Feb. 18, 2025) – Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) District 1 crews are actively patrolling and treating state highways throughout the district’s 12 counties.
As snow accumulation increases, roadways may become hazardous quickly. State highway engineers are urging motorists to use caution and avoid unnecessary travel. Even treated and plowed pavement could be slick.
Crews will be working throughout the night to clear snow from the roads.
Motorists should maintain a safe distance from snowplows and other heavy highway equipment and do not pass snowplows on the shoulder.
The District 1 Snow & Ice Team will monitor weather conditions hour by hour and adjusting response strategies as needed.
KYTC District 1 has about 87 snowplows, five tow-plows, and several contract plows to cover 2,852 highway miles.
As a reminder, the U.S. 45 Ohio River “Brookport” Bridge in Paducah will close at 7 p.m. and remain closed until further. Motorists should detour via the Interstate 24 Ohio River Bridge. KYTC District 1 will provide a timely update when it reopens.
Motorists are advised to monitor local forecasts or check the National Weather Service Paducah page on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/NWSPaducah for the latest weather updates.
