Wendell Dale Yearry, 75

Wendell Dale Yearry, 75 of Murray, KY, passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Nashville, TN.

 

Born in Lake City, Arkansas on February 13, 1949, Wendell was the son of the late L.L. Yearry and Mabel (Haynes) Yearry.  Wendell honorably served his country as a Specialist 4th Class, in the United States Army Armored Division, during the Vietnam War.  He was awarded The Purple Heart for injuries sustained during combat.

 

Wendell was an avid hunter and fisherman, and he used his skills as a handyman and his creativity to create custom woodworking projects.

 

Those left behind to cherish memories of Wendell are his children, James (Angela) Yearry and Wendy (Michael) Cunningham, both of Murray, KY; grandchildren, Blake (Makayla) Yearry and Chayse Yearry, both of Murray, KY; and a sister, Reba Harris also of Murray, KY.

 

In addition to his parents, Wendell was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Janie (Hopkins) Yearry; four brothers, Jimmy Yearry, Jesse Yearry, Donald Yearry, and Ray Yearry; and a sister, Lorene Spence.

 

In accordance with his wishes, Wendell’s family honored his life privately, with a graveside service on Saturday, May 18, 2024.  The service was officiated by his life-long friend, Bro. David Cunningham, and entombment followed in the Murray City Cemetery.
