On May 10, 2024, at approximately 06:37am, McCracken County Deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 900 block of Oaks Road. The caller reported an unknown male subject, armed with a large knife, had been located standing in their kitchen. Upon the homeowner confronting the subject, the man fled out of the house.
Deputies quickly arrived in the area and Deputy Mike Colyar observed the suspect in a nearby residential yard, still armed with the knife. Upon observing deputies, the man fled on foot. After a brief foot chase, the suspect, later identified as Joel Wilson, 20, of Mayfield, was taken into custody by Corporal Tyler Davis.
It was also discovered Wilson had an active McCracken County warrant for his arrest, due to missing court on other criminal charges which are pending against him. Wilson had been released on Bond for charges including assault, strangulation, and unlawful imprisonment.
Wilson was suspected of being under the influence of an illicit substance and taken to a local ER for treatment. He was later lodged in McCracken County Regional Jail.
A photograph of Wilson can be obtained from McCracken County Jail’s website.
