
Marshall County baseball celebrated Senior Night in a big way on Monday at Preston Cope Field. The Marshals pulled out a 3-2 come from behind victory over Ballard Memorial and extended their win-streak to eight games.
Seniors Ty Swoope, Reese Oakley, Preston Holman and Gavin Clark combined for the Marshals four hits in the win. Oakley hit a two run double and Holman a one run single in the bottom of the sixth to give the Marshals the late game lead.
Ballard Memorial put two runs on the board in the top of the third, scoring both off a single hit by Hunner Bealmear and the 2-0 lead held up until the bottom of the sixth.
Gavin Clark started the game for the Marshals, giving up six hits, one earned of two runs, walked two and striking out three over five innings. Matthew Henderson picked up the win in relief over one inning and Jace Driver the save, striking out three in the seventh inning.
Konnor Myatt went five and a third innings for the Bombers, striking out six, giving up three hits and three runs in the loss.
The Marshals and Bombers will meet again in the final regular season game on May 14 in LaCenter.
Marshall County improves to 15-13, the loss drops Ballard Memorial to 13-11.
