Marshals continue to post strong indoor season results

The indoor track and field season continued for members of the Marshall County men’s track team last weekend at the President’s Day Invite in Louisville. The Marshals recorded seven top 20’s among the large field of competitors at Norton Healthcare Sports and Learning Center.

Three top 10’s were turned in by Zander Maxlow with an eighth place in the 400 meters (53.23) in a field of 90. The mark was the fourth best indoor 400 time for the Marshall County program. Maxlow finished ninth in the 60 meters (7.32) in another large field of 113 sprinters.

Kobey Yates finished ninth in the 1500 meters (4:17.59) in a field of 99, recording the second-best time in program history.

Tyler Orlandi and Cade Sorrells finished in the top 20 in the 400 meter dash. Orlandi placed 12th (53.57) and Sorrells placed 13th (53.68). Orlandi placed 14th in the 60 meter dash (7.38) in a race where the top 15 finishers were separated by 36 one hundredths of a second.

Rounding out top 20 finishes was Owen Futrell with 17th in the 800 meters (2:06.63). Futrell’s time was third best indoor time in program history.

Jordan Clapp placed 33rd in the 200 meter dash (24.69) and 39th in the 60 meter dash (7.68). Jeremy Jaco placed 22nd in the 400 meters (55.82) and Isaac Reynolds finished 29th in the 800 meters (2:11.67).

Also in the 1500 meter run, Walker Jones placed 47th (4:47.81), Daniel Walker finished 68th (5:02.72) and Kasey Wyatt placed 93rd (5:54.30).

The girls’ team will compete in Marion, Ill. on Thursday. The guy’s competition at Marion takes place on Saturday.
