LYON COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE MEDIA RELEASE

  • On Monday, February 12, 2024, around 11:30am, deputies charged Dawn M. White (aka: Melissa Zigler) (52) of Madisonville with a Christian County indictment warrant for Theft of Identity, Theft of a Motor Vehicle Registration Plate, Possession of Controlled Substance-1st Degree (Methamphetamine), and Drug Paraphernalia-Possession.

 

  • On Monday, February 12, 2024, around 11:40am, Sheriff Brent White and multiple other first responder agencies were dispatched to a missing 1-year-old child complaint on KY 93 North. The child was located over 200 yards from his residence near a wooded area and creek. The investigation would reveal this was the second of two incidents in a 72-hour period whereby the child was not being properly supervised by his mother and both times could have likely subjected the child to death or serious physical injury if intervention by others had not occurred. The mother was identified as Shelby L. King (28) of Kuttawa. She was charged with 2 counts of Wanton Endangerment-1st Degree and Drug Paraphernalia-Possession. She was later transported to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment. The involved children were unharmed but temporarily removed from the home by DCBS and placed with relatives.

 

  • On Monday, February 12, 2024, around 9:30pm, Deputy David Carroll responded to a single vehicle collision on US 641 North, approximately 2.1 miles North of Eddyville. His investigation revealed a 2018 KIA Sedonia, driven by Phillip W. Morris (67) of Clarksville, IN was North bound when his vehicle left the roadway and collided with a utility pole. The driver was apparently distracted when trying to grab a pair of glasses. Morris declined medical attention from Lyon County EMS at the scene.

 

  • On Monday, February 12, 2024, Deputy Michelle Kent charged a 15-year-old juvenile with Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle. The juvenile was charged with taking a vehicle from a residence in the South end of the County on February 8, 2024. The vehicle was later located in Caldwell County. The juvenile will appear in an upcoming Juvenile Division session of Lyon District Court.

 

  • On Wednesday, February 14, 2024, around 8:25am, Sheriff Brent White responded to a non-injury collision on KY 274 approximately 10 miles Southeast of Eddyville. The investigation revealed Terry J. Fiser (54) was South bound in a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado pulling a Ranger bass boat & trailer when he failed to negotiate a curve before leaving the North shoulder and narrowly missing a utility pole and colliding with a concrete culvert headwall. The impact with the concrete culvert headwall caused the front passenger’s side wheel and tire to become dislodged from the truck. Fiser then attempted to turn the truck around and proceed North bound on KY 274 until he could not go any further on three wheels. Fiser was determined to be under the influence and was arrested by Sheriff White. He was charged with DUI-3rd Offense and lodged in the Crittenden County Detention Center.

 

  • On Thursday, February 15, 2024, around 11:18am, deputies charged Adam R. Norton (39) of Kevil on an Ohio Circuit Court bench warrant for Contempt of Court. He was originally convicted of Bail Jumping-1st Degree in the same case.

 

  • On Thursday, February 15, 2024, around 10:53am, Sheriff Brent White assisted KY Division of Probation & Parole with a home visit in the 2900 block of Titus Road. An investigation revealed Casey A. Bennett (37) was in possession of multiple items of contraband while on Parole for drug and firearm convictions. Bennett was arrested by Sheriff White and charged with Possession of Controlled Substance-1st Degree, 3rd or > Offense, Possession of Marijuana, and Drug Paraphernalia-Possession. Bennett was lodged in the Crittenden County Detention Center.

 

  • On Friday, February 16, 2024, beginning around 8am, deputies served multiple bench warrants on the following fugitive offenders:

 

  1. Ashley Pence (34) of Corbin – charged with Failure to Appear in Wayne District Court on two (2) bench warrants.

 

  1. Timothy A. Cantrell (48) of Corbin – charged with Failure to Appear in Whitley District Court on a bench warrant.

 

  1. Bradley Byrd (42) of Hardyville – charged with Failure to Appear in Hart District Court on three (3) bench warrants.
