Lady Marshals district win streak snapped by Lady Lakers

Marshall County and Calloway County tipped off in Murray on Friday in the final regular season district game for both teams and the Lady Lakers 57-40 win was the first for a 4th District opponent over Marshall County since March 5, 2019 when they lost to Murray in the First Region championship game.

It was also the Lady Lakers first win over the Lady Marshals in 15 games dating back to January 4, 2019.

After splitting their regular season games, they are tied in 4th District standings with records of 5-1. Overall, Calloway County improves to 21-5 while the Lady Marshals record is 17-6. A blind drawing will now determine the number one seed at the district meeting on Wednesday.

Skylar Waller left the game in the first quarter with an injury and the Lady Marshals played the remainder of the game without their leading scorer.

They trimmed the Lady Lakers lead by one after outscoring them 10-9 in the second quarter behind four points each from Chevelle Henson and Eden Sandlin and two points from Rylan Darnall. The Lady Marshals outscored Calloway County by four in the fourth quarter but the deficit was too much to overcome. Darnall hit two more threes in the quarter to finish with four and led the Lady Marshals in scoring with 13.
