Mable Ruth Mathis, age 93, of Melber, Kentucky, passed away at 1:16 P.M. Thursday, January 25, 2024 at Baptist Health Paducah.
Ruth was born in Hickory, Kentucky on Tuesday, December 16, 1930 to Lester and Mable Gardner. She was of the non-denominational Christian faith. She was a wonderful homemaker who dearly loved her family.
Mrs. Mathis is survived by her daughters, Eva Whitis of Mayfield, Kentucky, Linda Wood (Donald) of Winterville, Georgia, Elizabeth Mathis of Melber; her sons, John Mathis (Becky) and Neal Mathis (Karen), all of Melber; her nine grandchildren; her 13 great grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Mathis was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, John Benjamin Mathis; her parents, Lester Gardner and Mable Elizabeth Newman Gardner; her sister, Essie Hamilton; her brothers, Luther and Coy Gardner; her son-in-law, Gerald Whitis.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 P.M. Monday, January 29, 2024 at the Lone Oak Chapel of Milner & Orr Funeral Home with Darin Jensen and Daniel Farris officiating. Burial will follow at Owens Chapel Cemetery in Graves County.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M.-1:00 P.M. Monday, January 29, 2024 at the Lone Oak Chapel.
