Peggy Smalley Hunt, age 88, of Paducah, passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at her home.
Peggy was born in Paducah, Kentucky on September 6, 1935, to the late Irvin and Lovie Joyce Smalley. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved having her family close by and hosting get-togethers. Her grandchildren will always remember the fun they had during their frequent weekend slumber and pool parties. Peggy also enjoyed cooking, especially her famous Coconut Cake she made every Christmas. When she wasn’t helping around the family cattle farm, Peggy enjoyed tending to her flower beds and watching the hummingbirds that would visit her feeders.
Peggy is survived by her husband of 42 years, Jim E. Hunt, of Paducah; three daughters, Becky Wells, Melissa (Chuck) Offutt, and Michele Wells, all of Paducah; a step-daughter, Kris Spedding of Eddyville; a step-son, Brad Hunt of Grand Rivers, Kentucky; one sister, Judy Hudgens of Calvert City, Kentucky; nine grandchildren, Ben (Melissa) McMurtry, Whitney (Jon) Morrison, Josh (Carrie) McMurtry, Hailey (Josh) Byrd, Chapman (Adrienne) Offutt, Sarah McMurtry, Clayton (Christa) Offutt, Carly Spedding and Connor Spedding; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, David P. Wells; her brother, Billy Ray Smalley and wife, Mary; and a brother-in-law, Jerry Hudgens.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, January 22, 2024, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Dr. Brian Arnold officiating. Burial will follow at Brook Hill Cemetery in Paducah.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until the service time of 1:00 pm on Monday, January 22, 2024, at the funeral home.
