Phyllis “Nanny” Dickerson, age 77, of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, January 11, 2024, in Hopkinsville.
Born April 18, 1946, in Christian County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Dallas and Beatrice (Hight) Allen.
Phyllis was retired from Western State Hospital where she worked for many years as a CNA. Known affectionately as “Nanny” to her family, friends, and neighbors, she loved and cared deeply for each of them, devoting herself to raising her grandson, Kyle, in a home filled with love. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Christian County and enjoyed sewing and crafting in her spare time.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Dickerson; son, Donnie Dickerson; brother, Henry Allen; and brother-in-law, Jimmie Birdsong.
She is survived by two sons, Gerald (Lisa) Aldridge of Crofton, KY, and Joe (Susan) Dickerson of Livermore, KY; four daughters, Aletha (Brian) King of Hopkinsville, Lisa (Lewis) Boyken of Livermore, Sandra Williams of Utica, KY, and Trish Kassinger of Livermore; a sister, Wanda Birdsong of Hopkinsville; 19 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 12950 Ovil Road, Hopkinsville, at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, January 18, 2024. Visitation will precede the service at the church from 11:00 a.m. until the service hour. Burial will be in Judges Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery in Christian County.
