Starting off the new year at the City of Hopkinsville Holiday Classic on Friday, the Lady Marshals played Christian County for the second time this season, the first coming on December 21 in the Marshall County Holiday Classic when they beat the Lady Colonels 73-43.
It was a very different result on Friday with the Lady Marshals falling 53-44, playing without leading scorer Skylar Waller who was sitting out to rest an injury. Freshman Kenzlee Terry led the Lady Marshals with 15 points and sophomore’s Harli English and Addi Wall each finished with 11.
After trailing 4-0 to start the game, English scored the Lady Marshals first five points and they were down by one at 6-5. Christian County went on to finish out the quarter on a 12-2 run to lead 18-7.

Wall scored the first five points of the second quarter but unable to make stops at the defensive end found the Lady Marshals trailing 34-21 at halftime. Wall’s nine points and five from Terry made up the Lady Marshals 14 second quarter points.
Terry scored nine of the Lady Marshals 12 third quarter points and they cut the Christian County lead by two points at 44-33. All 10 of the Lady Colonels third quarter points came from junior Navaeh Day who the Lady Marshals struggled to contain.
The Christian County lead was trimmed to eight points in the fourth quarter after a free throw and basket from freshman Rylan Darnell. They cut it to seven on English’s second three pointer of the quarter before falling by nine at the final buzzer.
Up next, the Lady Marshals will play Hopkins County Central (7-7) at home on Tuesday.
