Trixie A. Cunningham, age 88, of Cadiz, Kentucky, passed away Monday, December 25, 2023, at Jennie Stuart Medical Center in Hopkinsville, Kentucky.
Born February 5, 1935, in Grundy, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Lee and Oma (Stiltner) Shortridge.
She married Alven “Roy” Cunningham in 1953 and they enjoyed 63 years together, raising four children She worked for a while at the former Trigg Knit Hosiery and as an in-home caregiver, but primarily devoted herself to her family as a loving wife, mother, and homemaker. She was a longtime member of Maple Grove Baptist Church. Among her many interests, Trixie loved spending time outdoors doing yard work and especially four-wheeling. She was also a talented quilter and skilled ceramics artist, firing her one-of-a-kind creations in her own home kiln.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alven Roy, in 2016; a son, Danny E. Cunningham; one brother and two sisters.
She is survived by two sons, Dennis Cunningham & wife Traci, of Hopkinsville, and Allen Cunningham of Cadiz; a daughter, Carol Joyce of Cadiz; seven grandchildren, Steven Cunningham, Dino Cunningham (Ashley), Eddie Claxton, Samantha Joyce Davis (Glenn), Kody Cunningham (Cecely), Drew Cunningham (Emily), Taylor Joyce Adams (Cody), and Travis Cunningham (Crystal); 13 great grandchildren; and a brother, Jim Shortridge & wife Marilyn, of Rose City, MI.
Funeral services will be at Goodwin Funeral Home, 138 Main Street in Cadiz, at 2:00 PM, Friday, December 29, 2023, with Dr. Mike Rust officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday, after 4:00 PM.
