It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mamie Gertrude Jones, a beloved member of the Smithland community. Mamie peacefully departed this world on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at the age of 103, surrounded by the warmth and love of her family.
Mamie was born to James and Gertrude Hall, who preceded her in death. She was a devoted member of Riverview Full Gospel Church, where she found solace and joy in her faith and church family. Mamie’s hands were always busy with beautiful quilting projects, tending to her garden, preserving the bounties of nature through canning, and nurturing vibrant flowers.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at 12:00pm at Riverview Full Gospel Church with Pastor Justin Rowland officiating. Following the ceremony, Mamie will be laid to rest at Paradise Cemetery in Grand Rivers, KY.
Family and friends may gather on Saturday to visit from 10:00am until the funeral hour, at the church.
Mamie leaves behind a legacy that stretches through generations. She is survived by three daughters: Nancy J. Rudd (Maurice), Mamie Carolyn Jones Johnson (Ronnie), and Vickie G. Tracy (Stewart), all of Smithland. Furthermore, she leaves behind fourteen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren who have been blessed to experience her love and wisdom.
In addition to her parents, Mamie was preceded in death by her loving husband Otis G. Jones; two sons: Otis G. Jones Jr., and Terry Michael Jones; three daughters: Kay I. Jones, Delores Raye Jones, and Sandra J. Medina; two brothers: Howard Hall and Hughi Hall; and four sisters: Edna Mae Ramage, Mary Rednour, Doris J. Owens, and Maxine Paris.
During this difficult time, the Jones family is being attended to with great care and compassion by Keeling & Goodman Funeral Home of Paducah.
Mamie Gertrude Jones will forever be remembered for her unwavering faith, her dedication to family, and her passions that brought beauty into the world. Her presence will be missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
