
Mrs. Leahbelle “Lee” Furst, age 85, of Murray, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at her home.
Mrs. Furst was born on April 11, 1938, to a farm family in Worthington, Indiana.
Lee graduated from Purdue University with a BS in Home Economics and taught Home Economics until she started a family. She traveled the world as a US Air Force wife. She was a homemaker and a member of the Liberty Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She was apart of the quilt lovers of Murray Club, 4-H Sewing Club, MCV (Kentucky Master Clothing Construction Volunteer), Murray Lions Club, VFW Auxiliary and an elder at Liberty Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Orville Hamlin and Mabel Begaman Hamlin.
Survivors include one daughter, Lori D. Furst of Murray, Kentucky; one son, Douglas Furst and wife Joann of Berthoud, Colorado; two sisters, Janet Parrone of Ventura, California and Martha Wells and husband Donovan of Worthington, Indiana; one brother, Russell Hamlin and wife Judy of Odon, Indiana; three grandchildren, Sarah Lauchli and husband Miles of Thornton, Colorado; Matthew Pemwell of Murray, Kentucky, and Ashley Pemwell of Murray, Kentucky; as well as two great-grandchildren, Levi Wolfe and Adam Lauchli.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Bro. Gary Vacca officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the memorial service from 10:00 – 11:00 am Saturday, January 6, 2024, at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
