Helen was born on March 12, 1924, the first child of Willis and Myrtle Holmes. She was a beloved resident of her hometown, Mayfield, Kentucky and a lifelong member of Hopewell Baptist Church. She graduated from Hardeman School in 1942 and married her sweetheart, Howard, soon after. They were married for seventy years and enjoyed a legacy of love. She loved to sing in the Good News Quartet alongside Howard as they traveled to churches spreading the love of Jesus through music. She was also a talented artist who loved to paint beautiful landscapes.
She lived her final years at Mills Nursing and Rehabilitation in Mayfield, Kentucky, where the staff lovingly referred to her as Memaw. She was loved by all and her enduring strength was greatly admired. She will be deeply missed by her family.
