
Rubel H. Ramage, age 92, of Paducah, passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2023 at Mercy Health-Lourdes Hospital.
Rubel was born in Livingston County, on November 13, 1931, to the late Ray and Viva Peck Ramage. He was a member of Lone Oak First Baptist Church. Mr. Ramage was a retired veteran, with the rank of First Sergeant, from the United States Marine Corp. 1st Sgt Ramage was an American hero, serving in both the Korean War and Vietnam. He served as a drill instructor on Parris Island, South Carolina, and was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal. After attending Italian language courses, he served in Rome, Italy with the USMC, where he worked with top secret security matters. In 2020, 1st Sgt Ramage was awarded the Paducah-McCracken County Distinguished Veteran Award. After his retirement from the Marine Corp, he served as the Postmaster General in Salem, Kentucky, which he retired from. He was a member of the Livingston County American Legion Post 217 and Paducah American Legion Post 31. Rubel loved the outdoors and was an avid golfer, fisherman and hunter. He was loved and respected by his family and will be greatly missed.
Mr. Ramge is survived by two daughters, Monica Clark (Terry) and Lenetta Carter, both of Paducah; son, Mathew Ramage (Kathy) of Ledbetter, Kentucky; sister, Louise Brown of Paducah; four grandchildren, Ashley Burton (Kent) of Lebanon Junction, Kentucky, Sarah Carter of Paducah, Jessica Braboy (Brandon) of Paducah, and Kerrah Marie Ramage of Suffolk, Virginia; three great-grandchildren, Ty Foster, Karson Burton, and Allie Burton; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Betty Joretta Riley Ramage; two brothers, Glendal Ramage and Carrol Ramage; and his parents.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Sunday, December 17, 2023 at the Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Rev. Bob Martin officiating. Burial, with Military Honors, will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 17, 2023 from 11:00 A.M. until the service time of 1:00 P.M. at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
