Raymond Lee Turner, 91, of Benton, Kentucky passed away on Monday, December 4th, 2023 at Calvert City Convalescent Center.

Raymond was born on February 14, 1932 in Benton, Kentucky to the late James Turner and Lela McKendree Turner. He was a United States Army Veteran who proudly served his country during the Korean War. After serving in the military, Raymond enrolled in barber school and followed his passion of becoming a barber and eventually owning his own shop. Shortly after graduating from barber school, he opened up Ray’s Barber Shop in Benton which he owned and operated for over 50 years. When he wasn’t working he enjoyed spending time hunting and fishing with his wife, Laneda. He and his wife also loved taking trips and traveling with their friends. Raymond was a member of Hamlet Baptist Church.

He is survived by two daughters, Pat Gold (Bob) and Lana Irvan (Randy) both of Benton; two grandchildren, Beth Colson (Jamie) and Brian Gold (Amanda); five great-grandchildren, Owen Colson, Noah Colson, Landri Gold, Ledge Gold, and Cullen Wilson; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Laneda Kay Woods Turner; one infant son; several brothers and sisters; one grandson, Jamie Irvan; and his parents.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Friday, December 8, 2023 at the Life Celebration Center of Filbeck-Cann, 1003 Poplar Street, Benton, Kentucky.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, December 8, 2023 at the Life Celebration Center of Filbeck-Cann, 1003 Poplar Street, Benton, Kentucky. Rev. Glenn Cope will officiate and burial will follow at Dunn Cemetery.
