
David J. Keeley, 76, of Paducah, Kentucky, passed away at the Ray and Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center at Mercy Health on Sunday, November 12, 2023.
A long time Paducah resident, David was born in Louisville, Kentucky on August 24, 1947 to the late William James and Doris Hazelwood Keeley. He graduated from West Side High School in Omaha, Nebraska in 1966. He joined the United States Marine Corp in 1967 and served in Viet Nam where he was awarded the Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm & Frame. He was a talented Builder with homes and construction projects peppering the state. Upon retirement, he focused on furniture making, often crafting beautiful pieces from a picture or sketch.
He met his wife of 42 years in Louisville before moving to Lexington and then to McCracken County where he found his forever home. Ever the outdoorsman, he loved the area for its hunting, fishing and rural beauty. He always prioritized his family and participated with them in Scouting, Baseball and Martial Arts.
David was a Master Mason, Shriner, and Kentucky Colonel. He was member and past president of the Masonic motorcycle club, the Widows Sons Stone Cutter Chapter, the Marine Corp League, and a life member of the V.F.W.
David is survived by his wife of 42 years, Carolyn Younker Keeley; son, William David Keeley (Miranda) of Medford, New Jersey; two sisters, Joye Keeley and Jaye Hedges, both of Louisville, Kentucky; one grandchild, Emma Keeley; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister Karen Van Hauter.
