Rena McClure Butler passed away September 29, 2023 at the Lifecare Center in LaCenter, KY.
Rena, born November 22, 1927 in Jonesville, LA, was the fifth child of Edgar & Ella McClure. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Mildred, Sam, Lena May, Estelle, Juan, Doug, Abner, and Bud.
Rena met R.L. (Bob) Butler in Baton Rouge, LA in late 1947. They married on September 17, 1949 in Houston, TX. Rena and Bob were married 53 years at his death November 20, 2002. Rena and Bob made a wealth of friends in their years together through their moves in Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi and, finally, Kentucky.
Rena was a homemaker and seamstress. She worked at Lone Oak Pharmacy for several years. Rena has been a long time member of Immanuel Baptist Church, serving in many capacities throughout the years.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Alan & Leta Butler of Paducah; her daughter, Robin Gouckenour of Richmond, VA; her grandchildren Aaron Butler of Nashville, TN, her granddaughters Erin (Bob) Barrett of Richmond, VA, and Brooke (Jonathan) Oliver of Paducah; and, her great-grandchildren Blain Oliver of Paducah, and Felix and Inez Barrett of Richmond, VA. She is also survived by her brother Fred (Margie) McClure, sister Julia Foster and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at the Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah, Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Katie McKown officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Kenton Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. until service time of 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family requests donations to Immanuel Baptist Church, 3465 Buckner Lane, Paducah, KY 42001 in lieu of flowers.
