Mary McDowell Phillips, age 91, of Metropolis, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at Stonecreek Health and Rehabilitation in Paducah.
Mary was born in Metropolis, Illinois on February 17, 1932, to the late John Shelton and Gladys Vinyard McDowell. She formerly worked at General Telephone in Metropolis. She also worked at CTS for nine years, Southgate Nursing Home for five years, and Krypton House for sixteen years. Mary was a member of Brookport Christian Church.
Mrs. Phillips is survived by her sister, Barbara Giffen of Metropolis, Illinois; brother, John McDowell of Paducah, Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her late husband of 66 years, Roosevelt “Bob” Phillips; a daughter, Cynthia Sue Martin; a son, Larry Allen Phillips; sister, Mildred Polifka; two brothers, Raymond Paul McDowell and Coy Lee McDowel; and her parents.
A Graveside Service will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Friday, September 29, 2023, at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Metropolis, Illinois with Larry Call officiating.
