
On September 23, 2023 at approximately 9:30 AM, Deputy Zac Smith and Detective Sergeant Snapper Seaton responded to an address on McGuire Road in Symsonia community. The Sheriff’s Office had received information that there was possibly illegal drug activity occurring at this residence.
Through an investigation, deputies discovered that Carl L. McGuffie, 49 and the person of interest at this address, is currently on probation for drug related charges. McGuffie cooperated and with the investigation. A search of McGuffie’s bedroom yielded approximately 3.6 grams of suspected methamphetamine, one pill (later identified as amphetamine), one loaded revolver style handgun, over 20 glass style meth pipes with residue, digital scales, and numerous small zip lock baggies commonly known to package meth in when sold.
McGuffie was arrested and charged with the following offenses.
Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon
Trafficking in a Controlled Substance 1st Degree, 2nd Offense or Greater, Greater then Two Grams of Methamphetamine
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Possession of Controlled Substance 2nd Degree
All drug charges will be firearm enhanced. McGuffie was transported to the Graves County RC Center and was later transferred to an out of county facility by Graves County Jail staff.
