LYON COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE MEDIA RELEASE

⦁ On Sunday, September 10, 2023, around 11:54am, Deputy David Carroll was dispatched to a collision with injuries on KY 810 South near Yopp Road. The driver was identified as Barry J. Orne (60) of Kuttawa. Mr. Orne was located a short distance from the scene and arrested for DUI-1st Offense. Mr. Orne declined a chemical test and Deputy Carroll petitioned and obtained a search warrant for his blood, which was later collected. Orne was lodged in the Crittenden County Detention Center. Deputy Carroll was assisted by the Eddyville P.D.

⦁ On Monday, September 11, 2023, around 9:45am, deputies charged two subjects on arrest warrants:

⦁ Kevin R. Rushing (38) of Benton was arrested on a Union District Court bench warrant for Failure to Pay Fines/Costs. Rushing is lodged in the Crittenden County Detention Center.

⦁ Donte M. Thompson (27) of Mayfield was arrested on a Lyon Circuit Court bench warrant for a Felony Probation Violation. Thompson is lodged in the Crittenden County Detention Center.

⦁ On Wednesday, September 13, 2023, around 1:30pm, deputies charged Sabur Wilson (53) of Louisville on a Jefferson District Court bench warrant charging him with Failure to Appear in a DUI case. Wilson is lodged in the Western Kentucky Correctional Complex pending release from state custody.

⦁ On Saturday, September 16, 2023, before 6am, Sheriff Brent White responded to a suspicious person/theft complaint on KY 730 West. A caller reported waking up and finding a passenger car on his property. The caller was a recent victim of multiple gas thefts on his property. Sheriff White found the vehicle unoccupied and conducted surveillance in the area. Around 7:09am, Sheriff White detained a male subject on Louard Bell Road. The subject was identified as Austin Oliver (37) of Eddyville. Oliver was actively stealing gasoline from a parking vehicle at a residence just prior to being detained by Sheriff White.

Chief Deputy Sam Adams responded and arrested Oliver, charging him with 2 counts of Criminal Trespassing-2nd Degree, Criminal Trespassing-3rd Degree, Theft by Unlawful Taking-Under $500, and Alcohol Intoxication in a Public Place-1st Offense. In addition, Oliver was charged by Chief Deputy Adams with a Criminal Complaint Arrest Warrant charging him with Criminal Trespassing-3rd Degree, Criminal Mischief-3rd Degree, and Theft by Unlawful Taking stemming from a case which was investigated by the Eddyville Police Department in August. Oliver was lodged in the Crittenden County Detention Center.

⦁ On Saturday, September 16, 2023, around 12:30pm, Sheriff Brent White and Sergeant Shannon Oliver of the Eddyville Police Department responded to a vehicle collision complaint at the intersection of US 62E and KY 818N. The involved vehicle, a black Ford Mustang, left prior to the arrival of law enforcement and was located at an Eddyville business. The driver was identified as Connor H. Pierce (18) of Eddyville. He was cited to court for Reckless Driving and Leaving the Scene of an Accident.

⦁ On Saturday, September 16, 2023, around 3pm, Chief Deputy Sam Adams responded to an incident at a business approximately 8.5 miles South of Eddyville. An unidentified vehicle struck an HVAC unit at the business and left the scene without notifying the owner. If anyone has information regarding this incident, they are asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at (270) 388-2311.

⦁ On Monday, September 18, 2023, around 5:30am, Chief Deputy Sam Adams responded to a single vehicle collision with injuries on KY 293 at I-24. His investigation revealed a 2022 Toyota 4Runner, driven by Sakayla S. Gray (21) of St. Louis, MO, was West bound on I-24 when she apparently fell asleep and exited the roadway before disregarding the stop sign at the end of the ramp and colliding with a concrete median before going airborne. The vehicle was occupied by three other passengers. Lyon County EMS transported one of the passengers to Caldwell County Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
