Lady Marshals drop first regular season district game in three years to Murray

Chaney Green scored early in the second half to give the Lady Marshals a 1-0 lead but they went on to lose to Murray 2-1.

District rival Murray High handed the Lady Marshals just their second loss of the season on Thursday. The Lady Tigers 2-1 victory achieved a district split with the Lady Marshals who won 2-0 on August 23.

Following a scoreless first half, the Lady Marshals got on the board nine minutes into the second half on a goal by Chaney Green but just seconds later, Murray tied it with a goal from Isabelle Bourne.

Just seven minutes later, Bourne struck again with the Lady Tigers second goal and the Lady Marshals were unable to get the equalizer and suffered their first regular season loss to a district opponent since Sept. 17, 2020 when they lost 1-0 to Graves County.

Before their meeting with Murray, last weekend the Lady Marshals won two big games over Anderson County 6-1 and Daviess County 3-1 in the DC Electric Lady Marshals Classic.

Up next, they will meet Greenwood (6-2-1) at Colburn Field tonight at 6:30.
